Applied correctly a Keratin Straightener will give you frizz free hair for months between applications. It’s important to stick with recommended times, and quantities and to remember a few basic principles.
We’ve prepared two step by step guides, one for Zene Progress and the other for our Tutanat Progressiva product. They’ve been written by us and are the result of our own experiences in using them ourselves.

Don’t forget that in Brazil the name for any type of Keratin Straightener is Escova Progressiva, because of its ‘progressive’ effect. Simply put, the results of a Brazilian Blowdry last longer with successive applications. While a first application will give you an amazing result, it’s only with continued use that you’ll discover the long lasting benefits.
With that in mind, here are a few tips to get the best results from any Brazilian Keratin Straightener:

By following these tips (and using a little care and attention) it’s easy to improve and prolong the fabulous results of Zene Progress. That means you can enjoy a truly professional finish to your Brazilian Blowdry, and easy to control, frizz free hair for up to 4 months.
Before Your Straightening Treatment
Ensure you rinse your hair really well before using any Keratin Blowout product and avoid shampoos containing sodium (salt). Many suppliers now sell salt-free anti-residual shampoos, specifically created to thoroughly clean your hair prior to using a Keratin Straightener.

If you have any Keratin based conditioning products such as masks or finalising serums, take a pea sized amount and work it through your hair before applying a Keratin Straightener. It works by opening up your individual hair fibres, making them temporarily more absorbent and more receptive to a Brazilian Blowdry.
(You’ll need to divide your hair into sections, so have plenty of grips or pins handy)
During your Brazilian Blowdry Treatment
Take your time when you apply any Brazilian Straightener. Divide your hair carefully into sections. If you have thick hair make more sections. If you hair is thin you won’t need as many.
But make sure you can easily access all the hair in any one section, because it’s important you apply your Keratin Straightener evenly.
After 20 minutes be sure to comb out all the excess product before drying your hair. (You can be fairly vigorous here, removing as much of the solution as possible)
The drying and straightening stages are important for activating a Keratin Straightning treatment. For best results you need to be patient and thorough. Use a brush or comb to gently work the hair as you go.
After Using Keratin Straightener
You’ll notice fantastic results immediately you rinse off the product. And there’s no need to shampoo your hair for a day or two, which means you can simply style as desired and go!
Avoid:
Colouring your hair for a week either side of using any Keratin Straightener.
Using harsh shampoos and conditioners, especially ones that have salt (sodium) in.
Instead, try using Keratin enriched shampoos and conditioning products. (We offer a great range of products, designed for use with all Keratin Straightener treatments here)
If you’re a regular swimmer. Try wearing a swimming cap and rinsing your hair after getting out of the pool or sea if you’ve had a Keratin Blowout.
